All are invited to join the cathedral book study group on Wednesday evenings starting September 22. We will be studying the book Short Stories by Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi by Amy-Jill Levine. The author is a Jewish New Testament Scholar and this book looks at nine popular parables, exploring how they would have been heard by Jesus' audience in the context of the culture, history, and other events of that time and then reinterprets them for our time, including looking at how Jesus' teachings in the parables still speak to and challenge us all these years later.
Wednesday meetings will starting with Evening Prayer at 5:45pm in the Cathedral followed by the study from about 6:15-7:15pm in the Clarkson Conference Room. We plan to meet weekly Sept. 22 through Nov. 17. The book will be available in the Cathedral Gift Shoppe soon!
