Vigil Service & St. Aelred Presentation

  • Trinity Episcopal Cathedral 113 N 18th Street Omaha United States (map)

In addition to Sunday worship, Trinity offers a Vigil Service on the Second Saturday of the month at 5:30 PM in the Nativity Chapel. Enter through the red door on Capitol Avenue. This service uses traditional language, hymnody, chant, and incense. If you wish to volunteer at this service or have questions, contact Michael Duffy at michaelDDuffy@gmail.com.

On June 8, the service will be followed by a special presentation on St. Aelred by Amanda Cardon at 6:30 PM. St. Aelred of Rievaulx (1110-1167) is one of the lesser-known saints on the Episcopal calendar, but to his devotees, he is a dear friend and patron with a fascinating history. He came from humble origins during a time of disruption and instability in England and rose to become a celebrated abbot, historian, diplomat, and theologian with a profound understanding of interpersonal love. We will look into his life, his afterlife, and especially his relevance to the LGBTQ community. All are welcome, but we will be speaking frankly about sexuality, so people under 18 should be accompanied by an adult.
