On Sunday, January 7, we will celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany with a Service of Light and Fire at 5:30 PM in the Nativity Chapel. The greens used to decorate for Christmas have served their purpose, and the bonfire from burning them celebrates the light and warmth of Christ coming into the world.
We will burn the greens from our Advent wreaths and home decorations outside the chapel door before processing inside for Eucharist in the Chapel. Another ancient Epiphany tradition is using chalk to mark our doorways to ask God’s blessing and protection upon our homes. As we conclude the service, we will bless chalk that you can take with you. We hope you can join us for this beautiful service. Please feel free to bring small greens to burn.
