Building on a long tradition of excellent choral music, we offer opportunities to experience and to create beauty, open to all.
Upcoming Music & Arts Events:
The Cathedral Choir, under the direction of Dr. Marty Wheeler Burnett, is open to all adults who can sing, read music, and commit to regular attendance at rehearsals. The choir rehearses on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm and sings for the 10:30 am Holy Eucharist each Sunday, September through Trinity Sunday (May or June). Choral Evensong is offered several times each year, and the choir sings for all Principal Feasts and Holy Week liturgies.
The Requiem Choir provides a ministry of musical leadership for funerals at Trinity Cathedral. It is open to adults who have the schedule flexibility to sing for weekday and Saturday liturgies as needed. No long-term commitment required, only a love of choral singing and the willingness to serve.
Summer Choir in July
Love to sing? Join us on any or all Sundays in July for Summer Choir. All adults are welcome. No weeknight rehearsals – we’ll meet in the Choir Room on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. to prepare hymns, service music, and one anthem during our 45-minute rehearsal. Then, we'll sing for the 10:30 Eucharist. Instead of vestments, all Summer Choir singers will wear black shirts (short or long sleeves) and black pants or skirts (or black dresses).
Our Schola Cantorum is a small, select ensemble formed by our Cathedral Choir section leaders and other professional singers in the Omaha community. Under the direction of Dr. Marty Wheeler Burnett, they provide leadership in the Cathedral Choir and sing for Compline. Members of the Schola provide musical leadership for the 10:30 Eucharist in June and August. They also provide support for the volunteer Summer Choir during July.
The Cathedral Handbell Ensemble rehearses on select Wednesdays at 6:00 pm (September through Trinity Sunday) and plays once every 4-6 weeks for the 10:30 am Holy Eucharist. The ensemble is directed by Janeen Jensen.
Cantate Choral Academy provides choral music education for children and youth in the Anglican tradition. Choirs for grades 1-8 meet September through May. Click on the link for more information and online enrollment!
